I had a very good friend of mine that was a patient of Dr. St. Laurent's. And so I went to one of the seminars and learned about the different procedures that he performs and wanted to explore that more. I was very impressed with him, with his honesty, with the fact that he presented this not as a cure-all, but more as a tool for weight loss and for health. So then, I scheduled an appointment with him and ultimately did the gastric bypass. My surgery was eight months ago, and I have lost 64 pounds. It's had a tremendous impact on my life from the standpoint that I for 30 plus years was on acid reflux medication. It was controlled, but with daily medication that I no longer have to take. For more than 20 years was taking blood pressure medicine which I am no longer taking because my blood pressure has come down. The quality of life is certainly different. It is so much better just to feel better, to sleep better, to be able to fit in clothes that I haven't fit into for years, certainly more energy that it has definitely improved the quality of life and just, overall, made me feel better.
