What patients can expect when they visit our office is, one, to have a very personable experience when they come in. Our goal with all of our patients is to treat them as patients, as a whole individual looking at all components of their weight. Unfortunately, obesity is a disease. It's a chronic metabolic problem, and it has many, many factors that play a role in it. So our role is to address the entire patient, not only mental, but physical and everything about their disease so that we can help control it and improve their overall health. What I typically see from patients after these procedures is, again, a very dramatic change in their lives. Early on, there's a lot of work to bariatric surgery, and patients have to work to lose weight. It just doesn't come off. There's a lot of work behind what they do and what we do. There's a lot of counseling involved with that, but the changes that we see as a result of that follow-up, that loss of weight is dramatic, patients indicating how their energy level is better, how their the relationships are better with their husbands, with their wives, how they're able to spend and enjoy more time with their children and family. What I ask of my staff is that they take the same approach with patients as they would their own family member. We want them to know we're in this with them and we're helping to treat and combat the disease that they're dealing with. A big part of being successful with bariatric surgery is the continuity of care, being able to continue to see your physician basically lifelong. That is so critically important to our patients. And we make them aware of that right when they come see us, that we expect a lifetime commitment out of them as we're committed to them also.
