Hormone replacement is an effective way to treat symptoms associated with decreased hormone production. Dr. Matthew St. Laurent is a board-certified surgeon who provides patients in The Woodlands, TX area with relief through hormone replacement at Northwest EndoSurgical.
What Is Hormone Replacement?
If you are experiencing the symptoms associated with a decrease in your hormone levels, you need relief and hormone replacement may be the solution for you. Hormone replacement is a treatment that uses bio-identical hormones to replace the ones that are no longer being produced in the body. These hormones are safe, and they mimic natural hormones.
Benefits of Hormone Replacement Therapy
Some of the primary ailments that are associated with decreased hormone production are night sweats, moody behavior, and fatigue. Hormone replacement can alleviate those symptoms and provide you with a renewed sense of well-being.
There are other benefits of hormone replacement, including:
- Stronger bones.
- Increased energy.
- Increased libido.
- Improved mood.
- Elimination of hot flashes.
How Is Hormone Replacement Performed?
Hormone replacement is a relatively simple and painless process. In fact, the entire process takes no more than a few minutes to perform.
Dr. St. Laurent will place a small incision in the lateral buttocks area of your skin. There is no need to worry about the incision because you will receive a local anesthetic to numb the area. A small bio-identical hormone, the size of a pellet, will be inserted under your skin. After the insertion, a bandage will be placed over the affected area.
The bio-identical hormone releases estrogen or testosterone over a three to six month time period. After the hormones are released, the pellet will dissolve. You will need to come back to our office to repeat the process once it has dissolved.
