Safe and Effective Hormones
When you choose Northwest Endosurgical for hormone replacement therapy (HRT), you can benefit from safe bioidentical hormone therapy. Bioidentical hormones are hormones that are derived from plants and are chemically identical to natural hormones produced by the human body. With natural hormones, our patients can avoid the side effects that are often associated with synthetic hormones.
A Continuum of Care
Dr. Matthew St. Laurent is dedicated to helping each of his patients achieve long-term success. Whether you’ve undergone bariatric surgery with him or you’re simply looking for ways to alleviate the symptoms of menopause, perimenopause, or andropause, choosing Dr. St. Laurent for your care means you have a team of medical professionals on your side.
Why Choose Dr. St. Laurent for HRT in Houston
Hormone replacement therapy is widely available in Houston. Med spas offer it. OB-GYNs prescribe it. But there is a meaningful difference between receiving a prescription and receiving care.
Experience & Recognition
Dr. Matthew St. Laurent is a board-certified surgeon with over 5,000 laparoscopic procedures and recognition as one of America's Top Surgeons. He brings that same surgical precision and clinical discipline to every HRT patient he sees.
Customized Care
He screens carefully, blends hormones to your specific needs, and monitors your progress over time. You are not handed a script and sent home. You are given a plan and a team that stays with you.
A Center of Excellence
Northwest Endosurgical is also recognized as a Center of Excellence by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons. That designation reflects a standard of care that extends across everything this practice does, including hormone therapy.

Making HRT Accessible
For many patients, the barrier to starting is cost. Hormone replacement therapy is typically not covered by insurance, and that should not be the reason you continue to feel the way you feel.
Northwest Endosurgical accepts CareCredit®, a healthcare financing option that allows you to begin treatment now and manage the cost over time. If financing is what makes this possible for you, that option is here.

HRT Can Improve Comfort
As we age, we start producing lower amounts of hormones, which can lead to a variety of uncomfortable effects in both men and women. Hormone replacement therapy is designed to help restore hormonal balance and improve a patient's quality of life.
At Northwest Endosurgical, we start many of our patients with small pellets inserted under the skin. These pellets contain estrogen or testosterone hormones that are continuously released over time. Dr. St. Laurent will create a custom blend of hormones that addresses your unique needs.
The procedure for inserting these pellets takes only a few minutes. There is no downtime, so patients can resume their normal activities immediately. However, you should avoid strenuous exercise for about a week. No follow-up visits are required and our patients can enjoy longer-lasting results than they would experience with other treatments.

HRT, Hormones, and
Your Weight
One of the most frustrating things patients describe is doing everything right, from eating well to staying active, and still watching the scale climb. If that sounds familiar, your hormones may be working against you.
It's Not Willpower. It's Hormones.
As estrogen and testosterone decline, your body shifts. Metabolism slows. Fat accumulates around the midsection. Lean muscle becomes harder to build and easier to lose. Energy drops, which makes it harder to stay consistent with the habits that matter. It becomes a cycle that discipline alone cannot break.
When the Work You're Putting In Actually Works
Restoring hormonal balance through pellet therapy can help interrupt that cycle. When your hormones are where they need to be, your body is better equipped to respond to the work you are putting in. Patients frequently report that weight management becomes more manageable; not effortless, but finally responsive.
The Foundation Is Just the Beginning
At Northwest Endosurgical, Dr. St. Laurent's approach goes beyond the pellet. His philosophy is straightforward: he is going to give you the tools and the hormonal foundation you need to make lasting change happen for yourself. For patients who want to go further, nutrition and weight loss counseling are available to give you the habits and the knowledge to get the most out of your treatment. The goal is never dependence. It is results you can sustain.
The HRT Procedure Is Quick and Offers Lasting Benefits
Placing hormone pellets is a minimally invasive procedure that takes about two to five minutes to complete.
FAQ About Hormone Replacement Answering Common Concerns
How do I know if I’m a candidate for HRT?
If you’re experiencing the symptoms of menopause, perimenopause, or andropause, you may be a good candidate for HRT. During a meeting with Dr. St. Laurent, our board-certified surgeon will learn more about your medical history, medications, body mass index, and symptoms to determine if hormone replacement therapy is right for you.
Who shouldn’t take HRT?
Dr. St. Laurent may decide hormone replacement therapy isn’t right for you if you have or have had abnormal vaginal bleeding, liver disease, blood clots, stroke, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, or uterine cancer.
How long will I need HRT?
Most patients will need HRT for five years or less, but there’s no set length of time, and your treatment will be unique to you, your symptoms, and your preferences. Dr. St. Laurent will monitor you throughout your treatment to ensure your plan meets your needs and remains safe. Adjustments can be made to your plan as needed.
Are there side effects?
Side effects of HRT include irregular vaginal bleeding, mood swings, breast tenderness, bloating, and headaches. These side effects should resolve on their own within a few months and don’t require you to stop HRT. If your side effects are bothering you, contact Dr. St. Laurent and he can adjust your dose of estrogen or testosterone.
Are hormonal imbalances dangerous?
Andropause and menopause are natural parts of life, but a sudden drop in hormones can be dangerous. This drop can predispose men and women to colorectal cancer, osteoporosis, heart disease, and other age-related conditions. Systemic hormone therapy can help lower the risk of these conditions.
Our retention rate for hormone therapy patients is greater than 95%. Once patients start their hormone therapy, they typically return for follow-ups because of the improvement in their quality of life.
