The Noninvasive Procedures That Can Melt Unwanted Fat

Diet and exercise are great ways to lose excess weight and fat. However, sometimes they don’t give you the lean, toned body you’re looking for. No matter how hard you try, you may fail to rid yourself of stubborn bulges of fat on your belly, hips, and thighs.

If you’re feeling frustrated about your physique, Dr. Matthew St. Laurent and our team at Northwest EndoSurgical in Houston can help. Dr. St. Laurent offers two advanced body sculpting treatments, CoolSculptingⓇ and truSculptⓇ 3D, that can take safely and effectively remove excess fat without surgery.

Here’s a look at what you can expect from these two noninvasive fat-melting procedures.

CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting reduces fat and contours your body through a technique that freezes the fat cells. It is the only FDA-cleared, nonsurgical, fat-reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat that resists diet and exercise.

By using cold to target fat cells, CoolSculpting can reduce fat without causing damage to the surrounding skin or tissue. It delivers excellent, precise results without scars or incisions.

After being frozen, the treated fat cells die. Then, over time, your body processes and eliminates the dead fat cells.

It can be hard to lose fat through weight loss alone, because as an adult, you have a fixed number of fat cells in your body. When you lose weight, your fat cells may get smaller, but they don’t disappear. However, the CoolSculpting fat-freezing procedure actually reduces the number of fat cells in treated areas by about 20-25%.

What to expect from CoolSculpting

During your CoolSculpting treatment, Dr. St. Laurent places a gel pad and applicator on the targeted area. The applicator delivers controlled cooling to the targeted fat, bringing cells to a temperature just above freezing and causing the fat cells to crystallize and die.

While receiving a CoolSculpting treatment, you you can read, watch a video, or even take a nap. You’ll feel little or no discomfort, and will require no recovery time after the procedure.

truSculpt 3D

truSculpt 3D is a treatment that uses radiofrequency energy to penetrate fat cells and heat them up, which interferes with their ability to function. Once your body realizes that these cells are no longer useful, it removes them and flushes them away within a few weeks after treatment.

Treatment with truSculpt 3D offers many benefits. It reduces fat without harming surrounding skin or tissue, and because it’s noninvasive, it delivers excellent results without scarring or incision marks. It is safe for all skin types, and requires no recuperation time.

What to expect from truSculpt 3D

Typically, truSculpt 3D treatments take less than an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area. Small areas can be treated in as little as 15 minutes. The procedure is actually quite relaxing, and some patients compare it to having a hot stone massage.

With truSculpt 3D, patients achieve an average of 24% reduction in fat in the treated area in as little as one treatment. After having truSculpt 3D you may experience slight skin warmth or redness, but that goes away quickly.
